The Medicinal, and Magickal Properties of Rosemary

Monday, September 30, 2024

This resilient herb, often linked with memory and protection, has been a fundamental part of herbal medicine, culinary practices, and spiritual ceremonies in various cultures. Whether incorporated into a medicinal tea or a protective ritual, rosemary is significant in both the tangible and spiritual realms.

Medicinal Properties

Rich in Antioxidants
Rosemary has antioxidants, compounds that help neutralize harmful free radicals in the body. These antioxidants support overall cellular health and may reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

Anti-inflammatory and Pain Relief
The anti-inflammatory properties of rosemary can help alleviate pain and reduce swelling. Rosemary oil is often applied topically to relieve muscle aches, joint pain, and headaches. The herb’s compounds, such as rosmarinic acid, are known to have natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Respiratory Health
The essential oils in rosemary, particularly cineole, have expectorant properties that can help relieve congestion and improve respiratory health. Inhaling rosemary-infused steam can help clear nasal passages and soothe conditions like bronchitis or asthma.

Magickal Properties

Strength and Courage
Rosemary is often associated with Mars, the planet of action and assertiveness. As such, it’s used in rituals to boost courage, determination, and strength. Whether facing a difficult challenge or seeking to empower oneself, rosemary can be carried or used in spells to increase inner fortitude and resilience

Protection and Purification
Rosemary has long been used in magickal practices to protect against negative energies and evil spirits. Burning rosemary or hanging sprigs in doorways and windows is said to keep harmful influences at bay. It can also be used to cleanse a space or an object of negativity, making it an essential ingredient in purification rituals.

Rosemary is a versatile herb with dual powers of healing and magick. It bridges the gap between the physical and spiritual realms. Whether you want to improve your cognitive health, protect your space from negativity, or perform love spells, rosemary's potent energies make it an essential tool in both the healer's and the magician's toolkit. Embrace its timeless wisdom and let it guide you toward health, clarity, and strength.

3 Holistic Practices for Everyday

Monday, September 23, 2024

Living a holistic life in this fast-paced consumer-centric society is difficult. We are rewarded for what we can do - produce instead of the person we are. Strangely, ego-centric billionaires are placed on a higher pistol than teachers, caregivers, and the elderly. Instead of following the masses, take a step back. It does not have to be difficult. We often think I don't have the time for that. When it can be easy to do. In this article, you will discover 5 easy ways to live and practice a holistic lifestyle - every day.

Breathwork

Breathing is easy, right? We do it every day, without thought. Breathwork is the practice of deep breathing is ease anxiety. A great place to start is with Arianna Elizabeth Youtube channel. This is a great introduction to breathwork.

💨 10 Min Breathwork & Light Meditation for Focus (Beginner Friendly!)

Nature Walks / Meditative Walk

Walking in nature or walking with intention can be liberating for a busy mind. Our mind needs time and space to think, sort, and compartmentalize thoughts. If you ever tried to go to bed and go to sleep with a busy mind, you'll find the task nearly impossible. Taking the time out of the day to walk with intention can give your mind the time it needs to "sort itself out."

Digital Detox

Mindfulness Leaders recommend a digital detox once a week or more. In interviews with Tech Billionaires, you often hear them say with their own children they limit the time their children spend online. The slang for scrolling mindlessly through TikTok and Instagram is called brain rot.

Brain rot (or brainrot) is a slang term used to describe internet content of low quality or value, or negative effects (psychological, cognitive, etc.) caused by it. - Wikipedia

The act of laying in bed and "rotting," while spending 30 - 1 hour flipping through stories.

Your mind becomes overstimulated by the lightening information and stretched with roller coaster emotions in short-form videos. Turn the phone off and put it in another room. Set boundaries with your loved ones and/or employer and let them know on "X" day I will have my phone off for the entire day. I will be able to answer your question on the following day. This detox is for you and your well being. You deserve it.

Until next time - ciao.

Making a Vision Board with Pinterest

Tuesday, September 17, 2024

I HATE having a bunch of paper around. When bits of paper are strewn around I feel my space fill with chaos. Even if it is for a lighthearted project like making a vision board.

To my amazement, Pinterest came out with a collage feature. The feature allows users to cut out pins and paste them onto a whiteboard. The cut-outs have a smart feature recommending different pins to "complete," the board. This feature can only be used on mobile devices. We'll have to wait for Pinterest to update usage to PC and Macs.

First, you open the Pinterest app and press the" + " button.

Press collage

You will be presented with a blank whiteboard

Press the" + " button

Envision your ideal self, ideal wardrobe, ideal life

Search for it in the search bar near the top

The image will automatically cut out the forefront image. I will admit it is not perfect but it's pretty good.

Add it to the whiteboard by dragging and dropping

Voila!

It is as easy as that. No paper is needed.

I personally love the feature and find it therapeutic.

If you get the try the collage feature be sure to share it in the comment section below.

Until next time,

Retreats for Black Women

Sunday, September 8, 2024

Let me start by saying this -

Just because the summer is over doesn't mean the opportunity to travel has ended. As Black Women, we are overlooked, overworked, and underserved. The American culture is a treadmill of constant grind, unending competitiveness, and separation of communities.

It is no wonder that our physical and mental health suffers.

Our spiritual and mental health has taken a back burner. Finding balance, and finding ourselves has become an unreachable goal. I have discovered rejuvenation through self-care, meditation, and nature. Through the retreat communities made by these amazing Black Women, I hope you find reset, rest, and inner peace.

Embodied Black Girl Retreat

Rooted for the Revolution

Embodied Black Girl is an in-person and online space to transform the mental and emotional BIPOC  women. I enjoyed the Reclaiming Rage by Jennifer Mulllan. The podcast dives deep into anger and how it is an expression of protection.

OMNoire

OMNoire creates a space for you to take ownership of the vision you have for your life, and provide you with the tools to grow beyond what you ever imagined.

It is a Black Woman-owned and operated yoga retreat. Christina M. Rice the founder of OMNoire retreat says she strives to "...create spaces for women to thrive." On her journey to become a licensed yoga instructor, she did not see representation of us in the wellness space. Retreats are in South America, Africa, and the Caribbean.

Black Women Healing Retreats

Embodying Femininity, Travel, Well-Being, & Healing

Black Women Healing retreat is a chance to connect with your carefree feminine side. A space to enjoy nature, yoga, and go within. It is without question the time spent at the retreat will create a new identity and help you find a sisterhood.

The owner of Black Women Healing Retreat said it best, "I prioritized resting in my feminine energy over capitalism, and in return, I found complete bliss, optimal health, high quality of life and peace, something materialism could never buy."

I have only been to one retreat and I continue to reap the benefits of putting myself and mental health first. I hope to see you at one of the retreats soon.

ciao
